The silent ascent in the mystic valley
It's a must do excursion!, considering the high levels of panoramic views and the emotional return due to the naturalistic beauty and the mystical / religious meaning to which the whole valley and the region is related. Let's not forget that this marvelous Abbey and its hermitages are located in the heart of a territory that includes places most important for spirituality such as San Michele Arcangelo in Monte Sant'Angelo, the Basilica of Siponto and the abbey of San Leonardo in lame in Manfredonia and San Giovanni Rotondo.
The route is extraordinarily rich in panoramic views of the valley, where nature explodes in all its beauties. Here, it's possible to admire frequently falcons and swallows, or cross one of the 90 species of orchids, their best habitat in this valley.
On a historical and spiritual level, the valley and the mountain's peak affected the visitor with very important ideas. Hermitages and caves carved out of the porous calcareous rock will bring back the hands of centuries. These sites trace their origins back to the 17th and 18th centuries and are totally integrated into the hermitic system of the Abbey of Santa Maria di Pulsano, a real silent village embedded in the rock.
To never forget, one of the most 'instagrammable' aspects of the excursion that is the panoramic view. The valley and especially the Abbey overlook the Gulf of Manfredonia and beyond, in the direction of the Lucanian board and reliefs.
